Aftercare

Though there is no down time required after receiving PMU, there are some restrictions that must be respected, especially over the following 10 days post procedure. The results of your PMU will depend on well how you take care of your brows during the healing process and beyond. Please review the following restrictions and book your appointment accordingly.

Should an additional touch up be needed due to not following the below instructions, a $100 fee will be applied.

For the first 10 days:

  • No water on the brows.
  • No working out or sweating for the first 7 days
  • No use of exfoliants or chemical peels on or around the brow area (Retin-A, glycolic/alpha-hydroxy acids, exfoliating scrubs, etc) until the brows are fully healed.
  • No extremely hot showers, saunas or swimming
  • No facial cleansers, creams, SPF, makeup or other skincare products on or around the brow area.
  • No sleeping on your face, especially for the first 2 nights. Use a clean pillowcase.
  • No picking, peeling or scratching the brow area as they are healing.
  • No direct exposure to sunlight.
  • No tinting, threading or waxing the procedure area
If you experience an allergic reaction or develop any unexpected symptoms at any time please contact your health care provider immediately.

Aftercare steps:

Day 1: One hour after your procedure, gently wipe the brow area with the pre-soaked cleansing pads provided to you at your appointment. Use a fresh new pad for each side. Repeat every hour and a half at the times indicated on your aftercare sheet provided.
Day 2: Using the same cleansing pads, gently wipe the procedure area once in the morning, afternoon, and in the evening before bed. The pre-soaked pads are the only substance touching the brows on day 1 & 2. Otherwise they must remain dry.
Days 3 – 5: Leave the brows alone. Continue to keep them dry.
Days 6 – 10: Gently apply a thin layer of balm to the procedure area with a clean fingertip each morning until all scabs and dry areas are healed. Before applying the balm, gently pat the brow area with a dampened cloth. Apply balm only once per day.

What to expect during the healing process:

Days 1 – 4: The treated area is sensitive and a little bit swollen in some cases. The surrounding skin may feel tight and slightly tender. Expect the brows to darken further as scabs begin to form over the procedure area. PLEASE DO NOT PANIC. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. Your brows will not stay this dark.
Days 5 – 12: The scabs and dry areas within the brow area will begin to flake off and shed during this period. The brows may feel itchy at this time, but it is important that you do not scratch or pick the area. As new skin is forming over the area, it is normal that the pigment may appear lighter than how they looked initially on day 1.
Days 13 – 21: You will notice the colour appearing quite light and the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as “milk skin” and is common in any tattoo healing process. Be patient. True colour will reveal itself once fully healed.
4-8 weeks after Powder Brows: A complimentary touch up session is performed to correct any imperfections and areas that lightened too much during the healing process.

Long Term Care

The results of your PMU will depend on how you take care of your brows during the healing process AND beyond. To help enjoy your healed results longer, always apply sunscreen when exposed to sunlight. Avoid the use of exfoliants on the brow area (retin-A, glycolic/hydroxyl acids, exfoliating scrubs, chlorine). When receiving any cosmetic procedures on your face, please inform the individual performing the service know of your PMU and continue at your own discretion. We are not responsible for any changes that may occur to your brows in its reaction to any additional services you receive.
